Highway
Vermilion is strategically located at the junction of Yellowhead Highway 16 and Highway 41. The Yellowhead, Canada's northern transcontinental highway, now records greater volumes than the Southern Trans Canada Highway #1. The Yellowhead is twinned from the Alberta-Saskatchewan border west to Jasper. Highway 41 is a major north-south route from Cold Lake to Medicine Hat.
Railway
Vermilion is a terminal point for the Canadian National Railway, on a secondary main line connecting Edmonton to the west and Saskatoon to the east. Spur trackage is available. As well, Canadian National lease land is available for industrial and commercial enterprises.
Airport
Vermilion Municipal Airport is a paved and lighted year-round facility with an air terminal building, and is operational 24 hours per day. It is capable of supporting VFR operations. The manoeuvring area consists of an asphalt runway (3300' x 75'), a joining taxiway system, and a public apron. Located within the Town limits, the airport is within walking distance of the downtown core.
Weather information is available through radio from the Canada Transportation Service Station at the Lloydminster Airport. Aviation fuel is not available; the nearest fuel centre is at Lloydminster.
Agricultural air application, spraying and seeding are available through private contractors. Courier flights are scheduled daily. Land for private hangars or for industrial use is available, serviced with water, sewer and power from the Town.
Bus
Greyhound Lines operates daily scheduled passenger and parcel services both east and west.
Courier Services
Loomis, Purolator, Canpar, UPS, and Greyhound services are available in Vermilion.
