RCMP
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) heads up the 13-officer community-based police force, as well as the highway patrol for the Vermilion area. The highest priority is placed on safety and security for Vermilion's residents.
The Vermilion RCMP department is involved in a number of outreach activities, including the Battle River Victim Assistance Society, which provides support for traumatized crime victims.
Fire
The volunteer fire department has 25 dedicated members, to ensure the safety of Vermilion’s residents. As a fully trained rescue squad, these firefighters are trained to handle any situation that may arise. Their state of the art equipment includes three fire trucks and a rescue unit.
has set the standard for firefighting instruction, and they offer additional trucks, equipment and skilled personnel available in cases of extreme emergency. Many of Vermilion's volunteer firefighters have trained at the college.
Ambulance
The Town of Vermilion is part of the 911 system dispatched through Wainwright, with the Prairie Emergency Medical Services Inc. providing reliable services 24/7 with three emergency units.
