The Bursary
The Vermilion District Health Care Providers Attraction & Retention Committee is pleased to announce the Vermilion District Health Care Providers Attraction & Retention Bursary, which provides financial assistance and/or practical experience to medical students to support their entry into practicing medicine in our community.
This Bursary is made possible through the Vermilion District Health Care Providers Attraction & Retention Committee, which works to ensure the ongoing full component of Physicians in our community. Our committee is a relationship between our communities of Town of Vermilion, Village of Mannville, County of Vermilion River, and County of Minburn.
Who’s Eligible?
The Vermilion District Health Care Providers Attraction & Retention Bursary is available to medical doctor students from the Vermilion area who are also enrolled full-time in undergraduate medical education in an Alberta medical school at the time the bursary application is made.
How Much is Available?
Each individual bursary will be up to a maximum award of $20,000 with $5,000 per year dispersed over 4 years and the expectation that you will return to our community to practice in the future.

An application can be downloaded from link below. Applicants will also be expected to do an in-person interview with the selection committee.
Selection process
Awarding of the bursary is based on selection criteria with preference given to those students from the local area who are willing to practice medicine in the community. The Selection Committee consists of members of the Vermilion District Health Care Providers Attraction & Retention Committee.
Bursary recipients will be notified in writing.
