Roll-Out Bins |
All single-family homes are provided with a roll-out style bin. Roll-out bins are the property of the Town of Vermilion and are issued to the civic address rather than the property owner. If you move, the bin must remain with the property as each bin has a RFID identification corresponding with the civic address. This helps us identify lost or stolen bins. Bins that are altered, painted, or damaged from improper use will be subject to a replacement cost to the property owner. It is recommended to only have your bin on the street for collection day to prevent potential theft or damage to the bin. Bins may be stored anywhere on your property. If your bin requires a repair that is due to normal wear and tear, please call the Infrastructure and Planning Services Department at 780-581-2415. |
Dumpster Bins |
Dumpster bins are available for multi-family dwellings and should not be used by anyone that does not reside in the complex. |
On occasion, we may not be able to pick up your waste bin due to improper placement, bins placed out after the truck has passed, emergency truck repairs, or winter storms. If your bin was not picked up, please remove it from the curb and wait until your next collection day or further direction from the Town on the Town website or signage.
In addition to the weekly collection program, residents can take any excess waste, oversized materials, and hazardous waste directly to the Vermilion Transfer Station.
Placing furniture and other non-household waste material in the bins is considered as misuse of the bin and offenders will be charged the removal costs of material.
Christmas Clean Up Program |
The waste collection schedule is modified around Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, providing extra services for excess waste and natural Christmas trees. Check our Talk of the Town, social media feeds, vermilion.ca, and Vermilion App for changes to your collection schedule. |
Spring and Fall Clean Up Program |
This program is intended for bagged garden waste, tree branches, and small household appliances that cannot be disposed of in the regular waste collection system. May and October of each year is when residents can dispose of the waste from their yard clean up. We do not accept any hazardous waste, construction material, concrete/rocks, and large household furniture/appliances. If you are unsure of an acceptable item, or have any questions or concerns, please contact the Infrastructure and Planning Services Department at 780-581-2415. During this time, place your unwanted items beside your roll-out bin for pickup. Any items that we were not able to pick up or any items missed or placed out after the program should be taken directly to the Vermilion Transfer Station. |
Concrete Disposal Program |
Residents can dispose of concrete, asphalt, and rocks to the Town Yard at 3905-52 Avenue. |
Medical Waste |
Residents can dispose of needles, sharps, and unwanted medication to their local pharmacist. |
