Fire protection services in Vermilion are provided to help protect life, property, and the community during fire-related emergencies.

Fire response includes emergency suppression, rescue assistance, and support during hazardous situations. Services are available 24 hours a day.

In the event of a fire or life-threatening emergency, always call 911.

For non-emergency fire-related inquiries, inspections, or general information, please contact the Town of Vermilion during regular business hours.

There is no fire ban currently in effect within the Town of Vermilion.

Residents are reminded to enjoy permitted fire pits responsibly and to follow all local regulations and safety guidelines.

How to Apply?

Application for construction of an acceptable fire pit/place can be made to the Fire Department through the Town Office by filling out the accompanying application form.

When complete application and payment has been received at Town Office, development may proceed.

Once completed, notify the Town Office and a Safety Codes Officer will inspect, consider the application and issue a permit (if all requirements have been met).

The Safety Codes Officer or Town Council may suspend or cancel the permit at any time.
