Assessment Complaint
Assessment Value Information
The assessment value shown on your notice reflects the estimated market value of your property as of July 1 of the previous year, taking into account any physical changes to the property up to December 31.
If you have questions or concerns about your property assessment, you are encouraged to first contact the Town of Vermilion’s assessment provider.
To help ensure inquiries are directed appropriately and answered efficiently, residents are asked to complete an Assessment Inquiry Form, available online through Tanmar Consulting Ltd. or at the Town Office. Completed forms submitted at the Town Office can be forwarded to the assessment provider on your behalf.
This process helps ensure assessment-related questions are directed to the appropriate team and focuses specifically on assessed property value rather than property taxation.
Please note that assessors can answer questions about how your property was assessed and how its value was determined, but they do not set municipal tax rates or answer questions related to taxation, utility billing, or municipal service levels.
Formal Appeal Process
If, after reviewing your assessment and receiving a response from the assessment provider, you remain unsatisfied with your assessment, you may file a formal complaint with the Assessment Review Board.
Assessment complaints must:
- Be filed within 60 days of the date shown on your assessment notice
- Be submitted using the Government of Alberta Assessment Review Board Complaint Form (LGS1402)
The complaint form is available online by clicking here.
