Cemetery

The Town of Vermilion’s cemeteries serve as places of remembrance for those who have lived in and contributed to our community.

The Town provides cemetery services including earth burials, cremation interments, pre-arranged burial plans, monuments, and markers. Records for individuals buried in Vermilion cemeteries are available through Town Hall or the Vermilion Public Library’s local history resources.

If you are looking for information about someone buried in a Vermilion cemetery, please contact Vermilion Town Hall at 780-581-2402, or visit the Vermilion Public Library (5001 – 49 Avenue) to access the Vermilion History Books.

Town Council has established the Vermilion Cemetery Memorial Fund, which is dedicated to the long-term care and maintenance of the Town’s cemeteries.

Tax-deductible donations are placed into an interest-bearing reserve. The interest earned is used to help offset annual maintenance costs, ensuring the cemeteries remain respectfully maintained for future generations.

A monument permit is required before installing, altering, or replacing any monument or marker within a Town-operated cemetery.

Permits help ensure monuments meet safety and placement standards. Please contact Town Hall for permit requirements and application details.
