 Parks & Recreation/Provincial Park – Summer Employment (10 Openings)

May – August 2026

Position Summary:

Looking for an active, outdoor summer job that makes a real difference in the community? Join our Parks & Recreation team this summer! We’re hiring 10 motivated Summer Students to support Parks & Recreation operations, including work at the Provincial Park.

Reporting to the Parks and Recreation Foreman, Recreation Park Attendants will support daily operations, including but not limited to:

• Grass cutting and edging
• Weeding and watering flower beds and planters
• Facility cleaning and general maintenance
• Operating and maintaining equipment
• Setting up and taking down equipment for events and activities
• Other related duties as required

Work locations include baseball diamonds, soccer fields, stadium, arena, Vermilion Regional Centre, Town Hall and the Provincial Park.

Qualifications:

• Applicants must be enrolled in a post-secondary program (college or university) during the most recent academic term and returning to studies in a subsequent academic year
• Verification of student status may be required
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks

This is a temporary full-time position and some evening and weekend work may be required.

Looking for a hands-on summer job where no two days are the same? Join the Town of Vermilion Public Works team and help keep our community running smoothly!

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Public Works Summer Student to assist with a variety of outdoor and operational tasks throughout the summer months. This is a great opportunity to gain practical work experience, develop new skills, and contribute directly to your community.

Job Description/Duties: 

The Summer Student’s primary focus is supporting the Public Works Team with a variety of operational and maintenance duties, including but not limited to:

• Asphalt patching and line painting
• Operation of handheld and light equipment
• Garbage pickup and general site cleanup
• Assisting with water and sewer operations
• Labour-intensive tasks such as landscaping and grounds maintenance
• Painting, cleaning, and maintenance of equipment and municipal buildings
• Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications & Eligibility

• Applicants must be attending a post-secondary program (college or
university) during the most recent school term and returning to studies in
the subsequent academic year
• Verification of student status may be required

Join our Summer Fun Program as a Summer Fun Assistant and help create safe, engaging, and memorable experiences for children aged 5–12 years. Working under the direction of the Summer Fun Coordinator, you’ll be part of a dynamic team delivering daily activities, special events, and hands-on programming that encourages learning, creativity, and positive social interaction. 

Position Overview

Summer Fun Assistants play a key role in supporting program operations while directly interacting with participants. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in childcare, recreation programming, and leadership in a fun, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting the Summer Fun Coordinator with daily program operations
• Organizing, setting up, and cleaning up activities and events
• Supervising and engaging with children aged 5–12
• Providing childcare and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and positive environment
• Supporting educational, recreational, and social activities

Position Summary

Do you love working with kids, planning activities, and creating unforgettable summer experiences? We’re looking for an enthusiastic and organized Summer Fun Coordinator to lead our popular Summer Fun Program for children aged 5–12 years.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll help shape a safe, active, and engaging summer for an average of 34–50 children per day, supported by a team of four Summer Fun Program Assistants.

Position Overview

Reporting to the appropriate supervisor, the Summer Fun Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering a wide variety of programs and special events that promote physical activity, learning, creativity, and positive social interaction.

Key Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Preparing registration packages and reviewing program applications
• Planning, organizing, creating, and implementing daily programs and special events
• Developing and maintaining a monthly calendar of activities
• Coordinating physical activities, educational opportunities, field trips, and guest speakers
• Providing first aid as required
• Supervising and supporting four Summer Fun Program Assistants
• Creating a positive, inclusive, and safe environment focused on outdoor play, good nutrition, and social development

This is a temporary full-time position.

Education

• Minimum completion of one year of post-secondary education

 Position Summary

Love meeting new people, sharing local gems, and being the friendly face of a community? The Town of Vermilion is looking for two (2) enthusiastic Summer Students to join the team at the Vermilion Visitor Centre for Summer 2026! Working under the guidance of the Economic Development Officer, this role is perfect for students who enjoys tourism, customer service, and promoting everything that makes Vermilion special.

What You’ll Do

• Welcome visitors and provide information on local attractions, events, services, and amenities
• Promote Vermilion and area tourism opportunities in a positive and professional manner
• Assist with visitor centre operations, displays, and promotional materials
• Answer inquiries in person, by phone, and online
• Support economic development and tourism initiatives as directed
• Perform other related duties as assigned


Work Schedule

• 7 days on / 7 days off rotation
