Public Notice: Upcoming FireSmart™ Vegetation Management in Vermilion Provincial Park
Homeowners whose property borders Vermilion Provincial Park — please be aware of proactive wildfire risk-mitigation work scheduled near your property this fall.
What is FireSmart?
FireSmart is a Canadian framework that helps communities and landowners reduce wildfire risk through strategic vegetation management — removing deadwood, thinning thick undergrowth, and pruning tree branches. Learn more at firesmartalberta.ca.
Why this work is being done:
Wildfires pose a risk where forests meet residential areas. Alberta Parks recently completed a comprehensive wildfire risk assessment, and this proactive work will better protect the park area bordering 51 Avenue and Park Drive. Reducing combustible fuels within the park boundary helps protect neighbouring homes and enhances overall community safety.
