Electric Zamboni - $50,000 Grant by MCCAC
With the need for a new ice re-surfacer for the Stadium, the Town of Vermilion partnered with the MCCAC (Municipal Climate Change Action Centre) to purchase an electric Zamboni for our community.
The electric model will serve to cut fuel costs in the Stadium while also providing a better-quality ice surface for our many user groups. This opportunity to save money on both the immediate purchase and the long-term costs associated with the maintenance is all thanks to the $50,000 grant provided by the Government of Alberta through the Electric Vehicles for Municipalities Program (EVM) administered by the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC).
Kevin Lucas, Town of Vermilion CAO expressed his gratitude,
"I am thrilled to announce the generous funding grant of $50,000.00 from the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC) towards our initiative of acquiring an electric ice resurfacing machine. This grant marks a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility within our community.
With the support of MCCAC, we are poised to revolutionize our ice maintenance practices by transitioning to an eco-friendly electric machine. This investment not only aligns with our municipality's environmental goals but also demonstrates our dedication to reducing carbon emissions and promoting cleaner, greener technologies.
This grant underscores the power of collaboration between local governments and organizations like MCCAC in driving impactful change. Together, we are not only upgrading our facilities but also contributing to a more sustainable future for generations to come.
I extend my deepest gratitude to MCCAC for their support and belief in our vision. This grant empowers us to make tangible strides towards a more sustainable and environmentally conscious community."
