Council for the Town of Vermilion held a Public Hearing regarding the Land Use Bylaw Amendment, which amends the minimum and maximum lot size requirements for R1 and R2 Residential Districts and to create new CR1 and CR2 Country Residential Districts within the Town of Vermilion. There were six residents present for the Public Hearing, with no objections to the proposed revisions.
Council appointed Councillor Paul Conlon as Deputy Mayor for the months of March and April 2023.
Sgt. Dunsmore – RCMP Detachment Vermilion Quarterly Community Policing Report
Sgt. Dunsmore provided an update on activities within the detachment.
Mr. Rajan Ahluwalia, Director from NWST (New World Sustainable Technologies) Charitable Foundation gave a presentation on sustainable tree planting projects.
Council approved the updated Employee Benefits Policy for January 2023.
Council approved the letter of support in favor of Alberta HUB moving forward with the Biomass Designated Zone project.
Ms. Darla Snow provided an overview of Vermilion Play Development early learning and childcare services. Currently there are programs in the Vermilion Elementary School and the Lakeland College Vermilion campus with two more locations to open in the future. Ms. Snow is requesting a letter of support from Council or the Town of Vermilion for application of provincial grant with a federal agreement.
Council appointed Councillor Robert Pulyk as Deputy Mayor for the months of November and December 2022.
Sgt. Dunsmore, RCMP Detachment gave an update on the Quarterly Community Policing Report.
Ms. Dawn Riley, Focus Program Director for Special Projects gave an update regarding the Focus Transportation Service.
