Mr. Donald Isaman reviewed the operational and capital portions of the audited financial statements with Council, indicating a “clean audit”. Council accepted the financial statements for 2020 as presented.
In Fall 2020, the Town of Vermilion approved a ‘Temporary Outdoor Patio and Retail Space Program’. With the Government of Alberta returning to Step 1 of its COVID-19 Public Health Plan including, effective April 9 at 12:00pm, the restriction of indoor in-person service at restaurants, pubs, bars, lounges, cafes and food courts.

The Town of Vermilion has received a number of comments and/or concerns regarding unsightly signs on a residential property in Vermilion. An order to the owner of the property under the Town of Vermilion’s Nuisance Bylaw #7-87 has been issued.
Please be advised that on Main Street (50th Avenue and 50th Street), we are aware of the upper traffic lights not working at this time.
This Regular Council Meeting of March 16, 2021 was brief and included a number of Committee Reports including a recommendation from the Environment Committee to reappoint Juliane Ollinger to the Environment Committee for a three-year term, expiring March 2024. Prior to this meeting, Council toured the nearly completed wastewater treatment plant which has been under consideration since 2014 and under construction since 2019.
The new organics program that is coming to all single-family homes will be picked up by Integrity Waste Solutions. The organic waste will be transported to an Alberta Environment and Parks approved facility capable of accepting leaf and yard waste, food waste and other consumer organics from municipal organic collection programs, and bio-solids from wastewater treatment plants.
